In managerial activities the following principles are followed:
- realism and dynamism in the fulfilled actions by their enrolment in the legal and institutional context which has been drawn by Romania’s adherence to the European Union;
- creativity and flexibility in the leading process by promoting and encouraging new solutions which can increase the quality and the efficiency of all activities. All the proposals will be promptly analyzed and evaluated by the managerial team and their initiators in order to determine their value and applicability;
- the coherence of measures, so that all the actions subsume under the objectives defined in ICIA;
- centering the concerns on the quality formation, education activities, scientific research and journalistim, services for SMEs;
- efficiency of managerial process by involving all the decisional factors (department’s leaders) according to the competences foreseen by organization and functioning regulation of ICIA;
- transparency in establishing the strategic objectives, and also in adopting and applying operative leading measures through opportunity analysis and informing the persons who are interested about the solutions identified, by introducting a periodical reporting from every leading factor;
- openness in the dialog with all interest groups embodies in the availability to discuss, negotiate and cooperate with partners from research, university and SMEs and Small Innovative Enterprises' environment, intern and abroad.

The managerial concept has in view the accomplishment of three major objectives:
- Scientific research development according with the strategy and the priorities defined at national level;
- Research activity guidance so that ICIA becomes an elite institute for Romanian research at comparable standards with the advanced countries;
- At organizational level, the institute must be prepared to pass from research based on ANCS financing to financing from SMEs and Small Innovative Enterprises and offering various services in research/ chemical analysis/ technological transfer to SMEs and Small Innovative Enterprises.
