Technology development of 13C isotope separation by cryogenic distillation of carbon monoxide
OBJECTIVES
  • the research, design and implementation of an experimental model of a 13C isotope separation plant by cryogenic distillation of CO and the obtaining of data to enable further technological development to achieve a productive plant.
DESCRIPTION           The project aims to achieve a research and to develop an integrated technology with opportunities for technology transfer and industrial application. The product resulting from applying the project results will be used in many research areas - health, food, agriculture and biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, environment and other fields.
          The approach is complex and requires specialists, knowledge and experience in the fields of isotope separation, cryogenics, vacuum techniques, analytical techniques and technologies, gas production and purification, mechanical engineering, electronics, automation and specialists software.
RESULTS ESTIMATED
  • development of a functional model of 13C isotope cryogenic separation facilities;
  • advanced production and purification of carbon monoxide - to concentrations <1 ppm for impurities with higher freezing point temperature of 81 K;
  • complete automation of an isotope separation complex plant which function at large operating temperature of 81 K and 10-5 tori;
  • obtaining the necessary data for the design stages of a productive plant; development and technology transfer.
